What to look for in a BMX?

I am a mountain biker, but I am looking at buying a bike BMX. I'm not planning to hit the park or to make any major point on the road, but I've never liked the small size of 20 "wheels. I recently learned of 22", 24 "& 26" bikes. I do not like the idea of 22 "wheels because they are new and pipes can be a pain to find (especially if they do not fall in) and 26 "means I can share with tubes and tires of my mountain bike. I'm pretty average in physical dimensions so I'm wondering would a 24 "have a huge advantage for me over 26" on the streets and avenues? What are some good brands / models to see? Each thing that I have to ask the bike shop to help me choose intelligently? Also, I notice many changes in place and head tube angles. Are these mainly for sizing / comfort or influential they are in performance? Thanks for any input.

As far as the head tube and seat tube angles are concerned ... more work, but plays a factor in whether or not a frame will feel small or large for you (see below). When it comes to decide if a frame is too short or not you can not just look at the length toptube alone, but also place the tube angle.
